Designed for high school students, counselors and parents of college-bound students, the open house allows visitors to tour the campus; have their questions answered from admissions, financial aid and counseling representatives; and explore academic majors, student life, and support services. Breakout sessions on Financial Aid, the Parkland Pathway to Illinois program and Career Advising also will be available.
The open house will once again feature hands-on demonstrations of high-tech visualization tools used in Parkland’s anatomy and geology courses:
- Anatomage Table: This virtual dissection software lets students see life-size 3D renderings of real cadavers. Students can cut through (section) any of the body parts, view X-ray images, isolate organ systems, see soft tissues and more.
- Augmented Reality Sandbox: Students use their visual and tactile senses to explore abstract earth processes. They can create 3D models of mountains, valleys, streams, volcanoes and other earth landforms as well as man-made features such as levees, homes and roads.
The Parkland College Health Professions component of the open house will take place in two locations. The school’s Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care, Surgical Technology and Veterinary Technology programs will be featured in the main campus’s L wing.
