Registration is now open for One People’s Summer Arts Camp, a free youth-centered and community-based arts camp to youth in the Champaign-Urbana area. Kids between ages 9-14 participate in art activities designed to inspire their creativity, nurture and affirm their artistic abilities and individuality.
Campers pick one of the following artistic expressions to focus on for the week: vocal performance, dance, creative writing, visual arts, and drumming. Community volunteers help lead and facilitate art activities. Each evening closes with a special performance by a community artist(s), exposing the campers to the artistic diversity of Champaign-Urbana. On the last day (July 15), family and community members are invited to attend a special community celebration, featuring performances and artistic works from the campers themselves.
The dates of the camp are July 11-15 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Garden Hills Elementary School. Registration includes program activities, camp T-shirt, and dinner each evening.
