Nutcracker auditions are coming up soon

Yes it’s only August, and yes the kids just went back to school, but preparations for CU Ballet‘s annual performance of The Nutcracker are well underway. Though the show does not makes it’s appearance at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts until after Thanksgiving, three months of rehearsal is not a lot when you are putting together an intricate production with a huge cast of dancers ranging from age 5 to adult. 

If your child is interested in participating, the time to register for auditions is now. Here is the all the info you need to know:

Audition to perform with Champaign Urbana Ballet and The Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts this December! Champaign Urbana Ballet will hold auditions for its 2018 production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, August 25th for experienced dancers ages 10 and up. Auditions for dancers with and without experience, ages 5-10 will be held September 8th.

Auditions are held at Champaign Ballet Academy, 2810 W. Clark Road in Champaign. Previous dance training is not required to audition on September 8th, but children choosing to audition must have been born before September 8, 2013. Participants should pre-register for the audition at www.cuballet.com. Information about the audition process, attire, fees, and rehearsal schedule is also available at www.cuballet.com. The Nutcracker, a beloved holiday family tradition, brings eight performances to Krannert Center for the Performing Arts: Nov 30, Dec 1-2 and Dec 7-9.
