Next time someone tells you that artists are self-absorbed navel gazers who refuse to live in the real world, tell them to Google Matt Kenyon.
Kenyon, the artist behind SWAMP (Studies of Work Atmosphere and Mass Production, has spent the last 18 years using art to speak out on a host of socio-political issues. And tomorrow he’ll be at Krannert Art Museum asking the question “What will tomorrow’s protest look like?”
This talk promises an important discussion of the role of art and artists in a culture that values consumers more than citizens.
