High school students who are entering grades 10-12 are invited to apply for Girls’ Astronomy Summer Camp, a two day camp where students will interact with U of I faculty and grad students from the Department of Astronomy and NCSA’s Center for AstroPhysical Surveys, and learn about astronomy and programming. The camp is meant to encourage girls to participate in astronomy, but all genders can apply. There are 25 spots available, and participants will be chosen by their essays.
Students will work with astronomical data, attend a planetarium show, participate in a nighttime observation session, and will have the opportunity to discuss research with U of I astrophysicists.
The camp will be June 21st and 22nd from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the deadline to register is June 6th.
