National prescription drug collection events this Saturday

The Drug Enforcement Administration is hosting nationwide medicine collection events this Saturday, September 29, at over 200 locations in Illinois and 70+ locations in Indiana. Proper disposal of pharmaceuticals ensures that these substances don’t taint local water supplies or impact the environment, and keeps them from potentially harming children and pets as well.

Walgreens stores in Central Illinois are participating in the event, and residents can drop off unwanted or expired medications between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the following locations:

Bourbonnais (501 N. Convent)
Champaign (841 Bloomington Road)
Charleston (411 W. Lincoln Ave.)
Danville (400 W. Fairchild)
Effingham (1200 W. Fayette Ave.)
Kankakee (1050 N. Kennedy Drive)
Mahomet (104 N. Lomard)
Mattoon (212 S. Logan)
Monticello (108 N. Market St.)
Pana (108 South Poplar St.)
