If you are like me, you didn’t even know that having a bike light at night was required by law until last week, when you got yelled at by a policeman for not having a light on your bike.
Today, however, those who lack bike lights are in luck. Champaign-Urbana’s Mass Transit District has announced their annual Light the Night event, where they distribute FREE bike lights to anyone who needs one. Included are both front and back lights, to assure you don’t get hit from any direction.
Bike lights will be available from 4-7 p.m on September 22nd at two different locations: the Alma Mater on Green and Wright in Champaign, and in Urbana, at the Hallene Gateway, a couple blocks east of Krannert Center.
Mark your calendars now; this is an extremely rare opportunity to equip yourself for free, and is especially awesome if you travel by bike at night.
