Mark Roberts, the creator of Two and a Half Men and Mike and Molly, is returning to Urbana on September 30th to perform a live reading of his children’s newspaper The Bad Mule Rag. Roberts is from Urbana and attended Urbana High School. He was here in 2015 performing stand-up for a C-U Schools Foundation fundraiser.
The September 30th reading will take place at The Cohen Building (136 W Main) beginning at 7 p.m., with pre and post show music provided by DJ Nate Jones. Roberts will be accompanied by percussionist Brian Reedy, and will read selections from The Bad Mule Rag, “a collection of comedic, heartwarming, and thought-provoking poems and stories, for kids and adults alike.”
Admission to the show is free (sponsored by The Literary and Urbana Free Library), and all attendees will be given a copy of the newspaper. Roberts is promoting the release of two upcoming comedy albums for kids, The Lonely Banjo and The Bad Mule Rag Live. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the latter will be donated to Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
