Local roller derby team defends championship title

From the press release:

The Twin City Derby Girls (TCDG) are hosting their last home bout of the year: the Season Championship!

Taking place on Sunday, October 7 at Skateland in Savoy, the The ‘Paign will play The Damagin’ Dames in a final rematch of the rival teams. They have played two close games this season, each with multiple lead changes throughout the match. The Damagin’ Dames are last year’s championship winner and are certain to defend their title with great skill and athleticism.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the bout starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Children eight and under will be admitted free and special rates apply for groups of six or more. Tickets are available here.

A portion of all bout proceeds during the 2012 season will be donated to the league’s partner charity, R.A.C.E.S. (Rape Advocacy, Counseling, and Education Services), a local nonprofit organization that supports survivors of sexual assault.

TCDG bouts are family-friendly and children are encouraged to attend. Kid-friendly halftime entertainment is provided at most bouts, along with a variety of concessions. Skaters are available after bouts to sign programs and talk to fans.

Also, if you visit Meatheads on Thursday, Oct. 4, they will donate a portion of the profits for everyone that brings in the coupon posted here.
