The American Cheese Society awarded Prairie Fruits Farm and Creamery of Champaign with a first-place award this month for their Black Sheep cheese in the category of soft-ripened cheeses made of sheep’s or mixed milk.
The ACS reports that more than 1,700 products were submitted across all their categories, and although we don’t know how many of those cheeses competed against our local Prairie Fruits, we hear the soft-ripened cheese category is quite competitive!
