John Bambenek’s Tumaini Foundation is launching a GoFundMe campaign to help build a school in the Karagwe region of Tanzania. The goal of the campaign is to give young people access to education that they would not otherwise have access to. The region is bordered by Uganda and Rwanda, and although rural, houses around 425,000 people.

August 11, 2015 – CHAMPAIGN, IL. Today the Tumaini Foundation, a
non-for-profit based in Champaign, Illinois, announced the commencement
of an internet crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to help build a
school in rural Karagwe region in Tanzania. The crowdfunding campaign
is powered by GoFundMe and been online just a few days.The Tumaini Foundation, working in partnership with the Diocese of
Karagwe, is seeking your support to send directly to St. Mary Philipo’s
School to expand the school and its offerings. Your donation – every
dollar of it – will go to expand the school’s buildings, allowing for
more children to attend and get a great education.According to the founder of the Tumaini Foundation, John Bambenek, “This
campaign was started to help expand the pool of supporters we already
have so we can continue to bring more educational opportunities to
children in Tanzania who don’t have access to schools. Education is the
key to every child’s future and it’s an important goal of mine to get
