Giertz Gallery is opening a special two-person show, with a reception to be held on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m.
Ann Coddington and Jason Peot are both artists who create 3-dimensional works that explore the ways materials either change or are changed by the space around them. By focusing on this relationship, they create art that is always different, and they expose the ways environment adapts.
Aside from this exhibition, each artist was commissioned by the Art-in-Architecture program and will have additional installations in other areas of campus. Peot’s is already in the Automotive Technology Center, and Coddington’s sculpture will be in the new Student Union this summer.
Thursday’s reception will include a gallery talk at 6:30 p.m. by Jason Peot, and the Parkland Guitar Ensemble will provide the music. There will be three other lectures throughout the show’s duration, please see Giertz’s website for details.
Even if you can’t make it to the reception, please stop by through the end of March to wander through and contemplate Light and Form.
Giertz Gallery is located in the central commons area of Parkland College, and is open from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Saturdays noon – 2 p.m.
