Preparations are underway for Krannert Art Museums’ Fall 2015 Opening.
Thursday, August 27th (tomorrow) from 6-9 p.m., get an early glimpse at four new exhibitions, and enjoy the company of other art lovers, and/or the cash bar & refreshments in Link Gallery.
In the above image, all hands are assisting Nnenna Okore with her installation, Nkata, made from burlap and hung in a room with specific lighting (pushed through lab materials like test tubes), video, and sound (re-spliced ambient sounds from her youth in Nsukka) to create a truly immersive environment. It’s just as well my hands are too shaky to make the video I shot usable, all the more reason for you to go experience it yourself.
Below, glimpses of rooms still in transition hint at the possibilities for Attachment, an exhibition of materials from the permanent collection meant to display the connections between things, and the School of Art + Design Faculty Exhibition. The fourth exhibit, Tamarind Institute and the Rebirth of Lithography, focuses on the important relationship between the artist and the printer. What will they turn into? See you Thursday to find out.
