Each year, the University of Illinois’ Japan House hosts a Japanese celebratory event called “Matsuri”, which features Asian art, food, and musical performances. This year’s rendition will take place on August 27th from 3-8 pm. Tickets are available for purchase here, but all outdoor performances are free and open to the public.

Join us on the grounds of Japan House and the University Arboretum for our THIRD annual Matsuri! Enjoy Japanese food and drink, taiko drum performances by Ho Etsu Taiko, Masaji Terasawa, the CANDYMAN!, obon dancers, martial arts demos, cosplay and yukata dressing, tea ceremonies, Ikebana displays, Bonsai demonstrations, Japanese armor, face painting and bubbles for kids, vendors in kimonos, crafts and artwork and more! All that and we’ll finish with FIREWORKS! Rain or shine. All performances and demonstrations are free, tickets for food and drink will be available for purchase. Please join us!
