It’s National Mentoring Month, and CU One-to-One Mentoring is celebrating. According to the organization, over 600 adults serve as mentors in the Champaign Unit 4 and Urbana District 116 schools.
In addition to honoring current mentors with a breakfast and Thank a Mentor Day with mentor benefit cards good at various local businesses, there are a couple of opportunities this month and next to find out more about becoming a mentor.
Mentoring Drive, Collective Pour, January 16th from 5 to 7 p.m.
Do some beer and whiskey tasting at Collective Pour and talk to current mentors and others who are interested in starting. A portion of every flight will be donated to the CU One-to-One Mentoring scholarship program. Email Lauren at smithal@u4sd.org if you plan to attend.
Mentor Trainings
Thursday, January 30th, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Urbana Middle School
Wednesday, February 12th, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Mellon Building
There is always a waiting list of students in need of mentors, and there is always a need for more male mentors.
