Author Jake Aurelian, of Oakwood, IL, will debut his new book, What You Are, at Salt Fork Art & Music Festival (September 28 and 29, 2013), presented by Sleepy Creek Vineyards (8254 E. 1425 North Road, Fairmount, IL). Since 2012, Aurelian’s books have received five literary awards, including two Finalist Awards at the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, and, most recently, First Place at the 2013 Hollywood Book Festival for his crime fiction novella, Living Well is the Best Revenge. What You Are combines Aurelian’s standard dark drama mixed with absurd humor mixed into“a novel of short fiction.”
In a press release , Aurelian’s book is described thusly: “Demonic dreams. Biting, sardonic commentary. Angry clown comedy. Roswell aliens running amok. Psychic predictions. Multiple assassinations. Sgt. Bilko, John Belushi and Brian Pillman. Classic boxing gone awry. Recurring characters. Monstrous subhumans. Intense short fiction interlocking into an edgy, darkly humorous novel, What You Are explores the gritty underbelly of American society by examining ‘What you are’ versus ‘What you could have been.’”
On September 28 and 29, an array of over 50 artists will be displaying their work throughout the beautiful, rustic grounds of Sleepy Creek Vineyards. This two-day event will also feature live music and entertainment, food and art demonstrations, and wine tasting. In addition to showcasing and supporting this eclectic collection of artists, Salt Fork Art and Music Festival is a fundraiser for the conservation of Illinois’ lakes and rivers.
