Pumpkins! Squash! Decorative gourds! It’s almost time to adorn our houses and yards with all the fall goodness. Here are opening dates for some popular area cucurbit gathering spots:
Curtis Orchard has been open since July, but they are estimating their pumpkin patch will be ready September 17th. This is the place to go if you want to stay in town, and if you want a lot of other bells and whistles and activities. They have a pretty solid cafe too. It gets pretty crazy there as the season goes on, especially on weekends, so keep that in mind.
Hours:
M-Sa 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Su 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
If you are up for a drive, this is a great destination to check out near Arcola. They have a huge selection of pumpkins and such, as well as all the mums you could possibly want. There is a corn maze and severall cool displays for photo ops, and a bakery to pick up some treats. They open on September 21st.
Hours:
W-Su 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If you just want to get your gourds and get out, this is the place to go beginning September 24th. They have a great variety, super low prices, and it’s just about 15 minutes southeast of C-U. Our family likes to pair it with trip to Sidney Dairy Barn, since we’re already in that neck of the woods.
Hours:
M-Su 9 a.m. until dark
