Illinois Marathon will affect MTD bus service

The Illinois Marathon returns this weekend and with that comes the yearly street closures and public transportation re-routing. On Friday there will be limited changes that mostly affect Campustown. Saturday, however, every MTD route will be affected and travelers are asked to be prepared.

From the release:

MTD bus services will be affected by the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon races on Friday, April 25, 2014 and Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Friday reroutes begin between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm depending upon the route. Friday reroutes are primarily confined to the campus area and affect the 5/50 Green, 13/130 Silver, 22/220 Illini, 27 Air Bus, and 100 Yellow. Visit cumtd.com for details. The reroutes are expected to last about 1.5 hours.

Saturday reroutes start at the beginning of the service day. Saturday’s service changes affect every MTD route. Saturday’s reroutes will last most of the day; service will return to normal when it is safe to do so and the time is uncertain. The downtown Urbana stop is moved to Illinois Street south of Lincoln Square.

Customers are advised to expect delays and plan accordingly. Details of all reroutes are available on the MTD website at cumtd.com.
