Here’s a fun tidbit for you, dear reader.
In case you didn’t know, iconic actress Frances McDormand was born in Gibson City.
This is something I just learned within the last few days, and given its proximity to C-U, it feels worthy of a mention. McDormand, born Cynthia Anne Smith, was adopted at the age of one and a half, and renamed Frances Louise McDormand. She graces the cover of Vogue next month, as well, ahead of the release of the new film she’s starring in, Nomadland. She is a badass.
McDormand has won multiple Oscars, and her resume is astouding, starring in Fargo, Raising Arizona, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Almost Famous, Burn After Reading, Moonrise Kingdom, and so many more.
She is a performer of a generation, no doubt. Take this opportunity to watch one of her films this week, surely there is one that you have been meaning to see but haven’t, or a classic you want to watch again.
