I had a most delightful meal at The WheelHouse

Last night I had dinner with a couple friends at The WheelHouse in St. Joe, and as the title of this post suggests, it was fantastic. The restaurant wasn’t crowded, but there was a steady stream of diners the entire time. It meant that we didn’t feel crowded or rushed, but we also didn’t feel like our conversation was bouncing around an empty restaurant. The vibe in the restaurant is just so lovely, and each time I visit, I tell myself I need to return very soon.

We started with the chicken wings (sweet and spicy sauce on the side). I’ve had them before and they are consistently perfectly crispy and juicy.

Knowing I’d want dessert, I opted for a lighter dinner entree with the ultra bowl ($8) with pulled chicken ($4). I’ve previously written about how much I love this dish, and it still holds up.

For dessert, we went with one of each of the three options: cinnamon caramel bread pudding, apple “nest”, and the pumpkin crème brûlée ($6 each). Our least favorite was the apple dessert; the nest didn’t really come together.

The cinnamon caramel bread pudding was absolutely delicious. I could eat it for breakfast and dessert every single day.

I’m generally sort of neutral when it comes to both pumpkin and crème brûlée, but this dish was fantastic. It was all the right sorts of pumpkin and spice. If it’s on the menu when you visit, you must order it.
