So, things didn’t go quite as planned last Friday, but that doesn’t mean those who were able to make it to the IMC Family Room didn’t have a good time. Thanks once again to all the bands, the IMC (especially Tommy Griscom), and everyone who slogged their way out to help Gillian celebrate.
Jorge and Thee S-words (Mario, top, and Nick, above) got the show started with some crazy surf-rock stylings. This was their first public performance, but you wouldn’t have known it. Overheard afterward: “They’re my new favorite band!”
Zack Grant followed with a solid acoustic set, including an Avett Brothers cover for the birthday girl. I spaced out, camera-wise, and didn’t get any pics. Sorry, Zack!
Common Loon turned out the lights and cranked up the rock. Robert surprised Matt with an impromptu cover of the Lemonheads’ “It’s a Shame About Ray.”
New Ruins kept things moving with a mix off their new album and some fresh cuts from their forthcoming third release.
Tractor Kings closed out with a set of crowd-pleasing originals and a cover of “All Along the Watchtower.”
