Hot Blues for a cold winter night

Hurricane Ruth is blowing into town and this is one storm you don’t want to miss. Join Prairie Crossroads Blues Society, WEFT, and Memphis on Main for the January 1st Friday Blues Event, Jan. 6, 2012.

The party starts on air at WEFT 90.1FM, streaming at weft.org, at 8:15 when Hurricane Ruth, winner of the PCBS IBC Blues Challenge, performs live from the Great Hall. After a short set and radio interview Hurricane Ruth will move up the street to Memphis on Main to play a club gig from 10:00 p.m. til 1:00 a.m.

Hurricane Ruth is a four-piece blues band performing high-energy rockin’ blues. Their influences include everyone from Eric Clapton to Sarah Vaughn. But make no mistake, they’ve created their own brand of power blues and that power seeps into everything they do.

Opening for Ruth at Memphis on Main will be Champaign-Urbana’s own The Diva and The Dude (Kathy Harden and Andy Baylor). They’ll play from about who will play from about 8:30 to 9:30.
