Girls Rock! C-U is a group that puts on a variety of programs and events to help support and empower young girls in the community, based in arts and culture. They have a few pieces of programming that are worth sharing, a few of which are happening within the next week or so.
Here’s the scoop (with some language augmented, but this is what has been provided). You can check out much more detail at each of the respective Facebook event pages, linked below:
February 2nd: Girls Rock! C-U Open House
We have an open house with “instrument petting zoo” for all female-identifying, transgender and gender non-conforming children and adults. This is at the IMC from 10am-12pm.
February 4th: Women of the Hootenanny – Girls Rock C-U Benefit
Urbana Hootenany is dedicating the night to Girls Rock C-U. They urge as many female artists to come perform a few songs. We will be collecting donations and will also have merch available to buy.
February 23rd: GIRLS ROCK! C-U Presents: Ladies Rock! Winter Workshop
We are having an Instrument 101 workshop at the IMC. This is open to all female-identifying, transgender and gender non-conforming children and adults (ages 8 and up) and is a chance to learn the basics about playing guitar, bass, drums, keys, and turntables. No musical experience is required. Registration is first come first serve and the registration form can be found on the event page.
