The Land Connection‘s annual fundraiser has seen several iterations (here, here, and here), and this year’s global pandemic has forced organizers to reimagine the event once again.
Your ticket gets you three meals, on three consecutive Thursdays (September 17th, 24th, and October 1st). The winner will be announced on October 8th. Tickets are $75 per person. Get your tickets here.
This year:
We have selected three local restaurants and each will work with local producers to prepare a complete meal for our “guests.” The meals will be picked up by guests and then enjoyed where they wish (at home, picnic-style at a park, in a parking lot). The competition will be spread out over three consecutive Thursday evenings with each restaurant preparing their meal for pick-up on one of the nights. We have also paired each restaurant with a local artisan baker who will provide dessert, using locally sourced ingredients, for each meal. The meals will be judged by the public as well as a panel of judges and the winner announced on October 8.
The restaurants being featured are:
- Neil St. Blues in Champaign, IL with desserts provided by Shaii Smith of Sugga Shaii’s Sweets
- Red Herring in Urbana, IL (they will be making their own dessert)
- Wood N’ Hog in Champaign, IL with desserts provided by Heidi Leuszler of Berries & Flour
