Last week the CDC signed off on Moderna and Johnson & Johnson booster shots, and they are available here in Champaign County, along with the Pfizer booster. The CDC has also given the green light for mixing and matching booster shots. You do not need your booster dose to match your initial vaccination doses.
Here are the eligibility guidelines:
Pfizer and Moderna booster:
- Must be at least six months after the 2nd dose of Pfizer or Moderna
- 65 years of age and older
- 18 years of age and older: Live in long-term care settings, underlying medical conditions, live or work in high-risk settings
J&J booster:
- Two months after the initial J&J dose
- 18 years of age and older
CUPHD is hosting booster clinics at these locations:
iHotel and Conference Center – 111 St. Mary’s Road, Champaign
- Walk-in; no appointment needed
- October 26-27, November 2-4 and 10-11
- 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Kohl’s Plaza – 1901 N. Market Street, Champaign
- Scheduling for booster appointments will be available soon; this is not a walk-in clinic
- October 30-31 to provide Pfizer/Moderna boosters and flu shots
- 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Every Saturday and Sunday in November to provide Pfizer and Moderna boosters
- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
