Habitat for Humanity is looking for service volunteers

Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County is looking for volunteers — which is how a variety of the work gets done through their organization. Check out the information below about how to get involved.

Mind you, Habitat turns 25 this year — look back at our feature about a really special organization here in C-U.

From Habitat for Humanity:

Looking for a great service “give back” opportunity?

For 25 years, Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County has been serving in the community; providing a hand up to local families seeking to build strength, stability, and self-reliance. Since 1992 Habitat has grown from a small local group of citizens, concerned with social justice issues — to a thriving volunteer supported nonprofit organization. Volunteers have helped build 100 new homes, and lead the way in supporting the success at the ReStore.  With our generous community, Habitat is helping to revitalize neighborhoods where families can connect, and give back to the community.

If you or your local business would like to help support this kind of service giving — we need you now! We need help every week with loading/unloading, sorting, cleaning and repairing, donated merchandise. We also need help with organizing and merchandising items — and of course with providing great customer service. Much of the “work” done in our ReStore is provided by enthusiastic and engaged volunteers.

To learn more about group “give back” service opportunities (ages 16+), contact Restore Director Adam Morrisette at amorrisette@cuhabitat.org or 217-819-5118.  We can sign up your group of employees, co-workers, service group, faith community or friends and family to help a few hours on Tuesdays-Friday 10-6pm or Saturdays between 10-4pm
