Grovestone has recently started selling ice cream, and it’s pretty tasty. The ice cream comes from Wisconsin, is made with limited ingredients, and the milk does not contain rBST.
I sampled a few flavors, and they were all great. My favorite flavor is cinnamon, and this one is done well. For the lactose intolerant, consider the carrot mango sorbet; it’s sweet and refreshing. Like most other spots in C-U, this ice cream is a little pricey: a kids serving of one scoop is $3.50; a small is $4.50, regular is $5.50. Toppings are limited, as this is a fancy olive oil store, not an ice cream shop. I’m not exactly sure what the policy is on vinegar or olive oil as a topping, but you should ask, because those are the things that need to be on this rich, creamy ice cream. Owner Loui Liagridonis provided a pro tip: his favorite is the cinnamon ice cream with a drizzel of the pear balsamic vinegar. It was amazing.
Yesterday I ordered a cup of the Guilty Pleasure: salted caramel ice cream with sea salt fudge and cashews. I topped it with smoked almonds. It was so, so good.
When I go back, I want to get a cup of vanilla with some olive oil and smoked almonds. So fancy!
