Giertz Gallery goes to the birds

Yesterday, Giertz Gallery at Parkland College opened a thematic exhibition of two artists who have a similar fascination with birds, but differ greatly in execution.

Retired Illinois professor Barbara Kendrick takes inspiration from the adaptability of avians while creating her collages. Brooklyn-based Monique Lucetti’s darker sensibilities are reflected in her drawings taken from museum specimens. Together, they be showing throughout the month of October, as well as hosting a handful of lectures, including a lunchtime presentation on 10/20/15 that will feature live owls and other birds to meet and greet courtesy of Susan Donovan of the Urbana Park District’s Anita Purves Nature Center.
