This November, there will be a question on your ballot about graduated income tax in Illinois. I know that I often focus so much on candidates that I don’t think about these types of things, or even realize that I’m going to have to make a decision on some sort of referendum, and I stand there feeling uninformed.
Don’t let that be you! The League of Women Voters is hosting a discussion about this proposal on Wedneday, February 5th at the Champaign Public Library from 7 to 8 p.m. U of I law professor Richard Kaplan will be there to share his expertise in U.S. tax policy. I know that this is a topic that is way out of my realm of understanding, so this seems like a great opportunity to get a handle on what this is all about.
