Friends of Champaign Schools’ commercial offers no facts, just kids being manipulated

I wish I could tell you that it’s April Fool’s Day still, but it’s not.

This is just what happens when people who are pushing a really bad agenda get desperate.

One would assume that Friends of Champaign Schools, an organization that has absolutely no ties to the current school board President, Laurie Bonnett, has heard of the term “logical fallacy” before.

I mean, these people work directly with a school board, right? And they care about education, too, yes?

So, it would stand to reason they are relatively intelligent, and would pursue a campaign that was rooted in facts, as opposed to simply manipulating their audience by getting parents to exploit their children by making them say things into a camera about things that they obviously know very little about.

You’d think that, but you’d be wrong.

Here, watch this disgraceful red herring — a classic appeal to emotions:

With the election just five days away, you can smell it in the air. I suppose there’s no telling what will become of the vote — I think it’s going to be a tight one — but as a parent, let me just state something, for the record:  when you put your kid on camera and push a political agenda without their actual consent, you are doing them and yourself and this community a massive disservice.

For shame.

If Friends of Champaign Schools want to behave like the children they are using in this commercial by ignoring the facts that revolve around the referendum, I will just post them right here:

If you want to vote on the referendum, inform yourself and make the choice based on facts. Don’t stoop to exploiting children and their innocence to push your shitty ideas about the future of this community.
