If you are looking to learn a new skill, build upon existing percussion experience, or find a fun weekend activity, the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts could be the place for you this Saturday. Starting January 15th and continuing almost each Saturday through April, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, in collaboration with the Robert E. Brown Center for World Music, is hosting free Afro-Brazilian percussion workshops open to the University of Illinois campus and members of the community. The workshops will feature community samba group Bloco Gavião and be led by experienced samba musician Mark Becker. Each workshop will last approximately 90 minutes in the orchestra rehearsal room, and instruments will be provided.
You do not need to register for this event. Additional information is available on the Facebook event page.
