Local activist group Bend the Arc-CU (formerly Hineni-CU) is hosting a forum at the Champaign Public Library on December 20th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. They’ve invited several speakers to share ideas on how community members can support Dreamers. The group has consistently advocated for Dreamers, having held a rally at Rodney Davis’s office after the president’s decision on DACA was first announced.
Here are more details from their Facebook event:
On December 20, join fellow community members at a forum sponsored by Bend the Arc: CU (Formerly Hineni-CU) to learn what you can do to help prevent America’s nearly 800,000 Dreamers from being deported.
Scheduled speakers include:
Stacey Barton Hackler, Senate aide to Richard J. Durbin
Michael Frerichs, Illinois State Treasurer
Rabbi Ariel Naveh, Hillel Foundation
Professor Janice Jayes, Department of History, Illinois State University

A question and answer period will take place following the speakers presentations.
Congressman Rodney Davis has also been invited. We are awaiting his RSVP.
Each attendee will receive information on specific actions to take right now to prevent this injustice from happening. We’ve seen this kind of inhumanity before! We know where it leads. NEVER AGAIN!
