Former locals explain the art of a tactful academic rejection

Two former University of Illinois Dept. of English PhD. students made the front page of The Chronicle of Higher Education with their thoughts on being turned down for countless jobs. While this is an especially great read for academics, their comments ring true for just about anyone who has been rejected by poorly written, tactless human resource correspondence.
