Mom’s weekend kicks off April 13th and Krannert Art Museum is hosting an Art Open House to join the festivities. The museum has designed tours especially for U of I students and parents. On Saturday, April 14th, there will be a special open house with free tours. Tours will be given from 1 to 4 p.m., staring in the Gelvin Noel Gallery on the main floor.
Tours include:
Illinois Moms Insta-tour
(starting at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.)
Join us for a quick-moving tour where you’ll see, learn, and chat about lots of art. This tour will give you a fun “snapshot” of the museum. Photography is encouraged.“Inside Look” tour of special exhibitions
(starting at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.)
KAM curators will give a personal tour through our special exhibitions, including artwork by Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme and Through the Black Country… by contemporary artist Allan deSouza.
*Although special events are scheduled in the afternoon, all galleries will be open 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
In addition to the tours, the Espresso Royale Palette café will be open with drinks and snacks from 8:30 a.m until 4 p.m. In the Link Gallery, art students from the University of Illinois Metals Program will hold the Red Dot Jewelry Sale, where guests can shop for handmade jewelry and craft items created by students.
