C-U at Home is kicking off their signature event, One Winter Night, with a panel of talks on homelessness this Friday, February 6th. Here is the schedule, from their press release:
From 5:30pm-9pm on Friday February 6, we will host a panel of experts and the experienced, sharing about various aspects of homelessness in the Champaign City Council Chambers. Young and old are invited to attend.
- 5:30pm – “Law Enforcement and Homelessness,” Urbana Police Department 6:00pm – “Mental Health and Homelessness,” Community Elements
- 6:30pm – “Children/Youth and Homelessness,” Crisis Nursery and Roundhouse 7:00pm – “Sheltering vs. Transitional Housing,” TIMES Center
- 7:30pm – “One Man’s Story from Sheltered to Sheltering Others,” C-U at Home
- 8:00pm – “Panhandling and Homelessness,” City of Champaign and Partnering Against Homelessness
- 8:30pm – “Women and Homelessness,” Courage Connection
Several agencies that help the homeless will have their table displays with information and a representative to answer questions set up inside the City Building lobby, just outside of the Council Chambers.
