Just got a heads-up from friend of SP Arts (and Music Director for the East Central Illinois Youth Orchestra) Kevin Kelly:
“The East Central Illinois Youth Orchestra will give its Winter Concert this coming Monday, January 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Smith Recital Hall on the University of Illinois campus. There is no admission charge—though donations will be accepted gratefully.
The students are playing a very full and enjoyable program splendidly well, including Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro” overture, Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony,” lively and lovely tunes by Percy Grainger, and familiar melodies by Bizet and Tchaikovsky.”
For those of you who support kids’ involvement in music and arts programs, this sounds like a great time.
