Taken from a press release:
If you missed the “official” spring concert of the East Central Illinois Youth Orchestra, which was in Champaign Sunday night, there will be a second performance Wednesday, May 21, at Monticello High School. This year’s concerto competition winner, cellist Jordan Gunn, plays the first movement of Édouard Lalo’s Cello Concerto, and here’s the rest of the program:
Prelude to Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck
The Celebration! by Linda Robbins Coleman
Selections from My Fair Lady by Lerner and Loewe (instrumental)
Finale from the Symphony No. 2 by Jean Sibelius
The concert is free and starts at 7:00 p.m.
For those who need them, here are directions to the high school:
The address is 1 Sage Drive, Monticello. From Champaign, take I-72 west towards Decatur. Take the Market street exit 166 to Monticello . At the end of the ramp take a left to go onto 105/ Market street. The road will T and you will take a right into town. The road curves a little, but stay on Market through town. Go through a stop light [might be two stop lights] and a stop sign. The high school is on your left, about three blocks past the County Market and McDonald’s.
Turn left AFTER the high school on Kraatz Rd. This road is between the football field (you will see the bleachers) and the baseball diamonds. Take another left into the parking lot by the bleachers and park anywhere in those two lots.
The cafeteria doors (big glass doors in the center) will be open. Once you enter those doors, turn left up the stairs or take the elevator if you need it to the ML level. This is the gym lobby. There will be signs posted inside the building.
