As gardening season winds down, this is an opportunity to help your fellow community members with the last of your harvest. Solidarity Gardens CU is working to address food insecurity in our community by providing gardening supplies and resources to those who would like to grow their own food, as well as encourage folks who garden to donate their excess produce to be distributed to those in need.
There are two drive up dropoff sites: C-U Public Health, and Sola Gratia Farm. C-U Public Health accepts donations at their WIC counter, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, Monday through Friday. Sola Gratia Farm has a cooler to place donations in, Monday through Friday.
There are instructions on the Solidarity Gardens CU website that detail how to prepare your produce for donation.
Donations will be distributed to the Bucket Brigade, Little Free Friday Market, Eastern Illinois Food Bank, Jubilee Cafe, and Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.
