We’re used to hearing politicians on the same side of the ballot say fairly nice things about one another — ie. you won’t REALLY hear any Dems criticize the Hillary Clinton Campaign and, of course, at the GOP debate all but one (The melting orange candle with hair) said that they would vote for whichever Republican candidate got the nomination.
Locally, though, it seems to be a bit different as ex-mayor Don Gerard had some choice quotes about former campaign manager Matt Duco’s potential bid for the Champaign County recorder.
“He’s just not somebody that I have placed a lot of faith or trust in.”
Yikes.
Gerard also basically slams Duco’s candidacy because he’s “not from here.” Which seems odd as Duco has been a fixture in local politics for quite awhile.
There were apparently rumors out there that Gerard could run for that office, but he nixes that in the interview as well.
We’ll see if this affects Duco’s potential candidacy as a Democrat in this race.
