In case you missed it, earlier this week it was announced that Urbana’s Landmark Hotel is expected to undergo a massive transformation into Hilton’s Tapestry Collection. Exciting news, indeed.
The hotel developer that is taking on the project will be paying a visit to Urbana on Monday, March 13th at Urbana’s City Council meeting.

Hotel Development Team to Visit Urbana
The New Jersey-based developer who wants to remake the Urbana Landmark Hotel into a Hilton-branded property will introduce himself to Urbana on Monday night, March 13th.
Hotel developer Dionis Rodriguez of Crimson Rock Capital and renovation manager Bill Walsh of Walsh Associates, Inc. will make a brief presentation about their respective backgrounds and prior hotel projects at Monday’s 7 p.m. meeting of the Urbana City Council’s Committee of The Whole.
The hotel deal is in the final stages of negotiation and won’t be on the committee agenda for action. The meeting will take place at the Urbana City Building, 400 S. Vine St.
On Monday afternoon, Rodriquez and Walsh will meet privately with individual council members.
“This is an opportunity for the public to meet members of the talented team that would like to make Urbana’s downtown hotel a part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection,” said Mayor Laurel Prussing.
“I am excited by their strong track record and I hope that public and especially our downtown business and property owners will come out to show their support,” Prussing said.
Hilton’s interest in the Urbana Landmark as one of the first properties in the newly launched Tapestry Collection was announced just last week and the developers are anxious to seal their deal with the brand.
Crimson Rock Capital is a private hotel investment firm based in Glen Rock, N.J., that has teamed with Walsh Associates, Inc., a premier hotel renovation management firm based out of Port Chester, New York, and New Castle Hotels & Resorts, a leading hotel management and development company based in Connecticut, with an inventory of over 3,000 rooms.
New Castle has properties throughout the eastern parts of North America, with brands including Hilton, Marriott, Starwood, and Choice. Their portfolio includes a number of historic hotels that are recognized by Historic Hotels of America.
Crimson Rock Capital, Walsh Associates and New Castle Hotels have a long history of working together.
Crimson Rock, Walsh Associates and New Castle are working with Campo Architects of New Orleans, a firm which specializes in historic properties. The development team recently completed a major renovation and rebranding of the Fairfield Inn & Suites in New Orleans, in an historic building in the downtown area. They are excited to take on the renovation of the Urbana Landmark Hotel, retaining its historic aspects, while dramatically transforming the non-historic portions of the building.
