DeShawn Williams has just announced his candidacy for mayor of Urbana. Williams currently serves as the Chief Deputy Treasurer of Champaign County, and has previously served on the Champaign County Board.
He will hold an official announcement event at 6 p.m. tonight, Thursday, December 15th, at Baldarotta’s in Lincoln Square Mall.
The next mayoral election is in 2025; current mayor Diane Marlin has suggested she will likely not seek reelection.
