Champaign Urbana Ballet Presents The Sleeping Beauty May 4-5, 2018
Champaign, IL – Just as spring awakens, so does The Sleeping Beauty! Prepare to be swept off your feet and into a magical world of wonder – a princess, fairies, woodland nymphs and loads of storybook charm! The beautiful Princess Aurora. . .felled by a curse, saved by a fairy, and awakened by true love’s kiss. Picturesque scenery and exquisite costumes add beauty to this family favorite production. The Sleeping Beauty is considered Tchaikovsky’s ballet masterpiece, known for its grand scale and the opulence of its staging.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, CU Ballet collaborates with Krannert Center and The Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra in presenting The Nutcracker each December, with the Virginia Theatre and Champaign Park District in presenting a spring ballet, and with Parkland College for a summer student production. CU Ballet is committed to making ballet accessible to everyone and partners with local school teachers to arrange for 200 underprivileged grade school children to attend ballet performances at no cost through CUB’s Tickets for Kids program.
