Triptych Brewing was recently profiled by Steve Pratten about their process, and how they like to get involved with the community and put forth collaborative beers. PYGMALION kicks off tomorrow, and PYGMALION Pilsner is now available.
This is the fourth collaboration between Triptych and PYGMALION: 2015’s Pilsner, 2016’s Curtis (with Goose Island), 2017’s PYNK, and now we return to the Pilsner.
Brewmaster Anthony Benjamin had this to say about the brew:
Triptych is excited to share the beer brewed to commemorate this year’s Pygmalion festival: Pygmalion Pilsner. Pygmalion Pilsner is our take on the nascent style of Italian Pilsner. We used a duo of traditional lager malts plus a blend of German and American hops in the brewhouse. Then we fermented this beer low and slow with our favorite lager yeast. After fermentation was completed and a long cold maturation period, we gently dry hopped this beer with German Saphir, Huell Melon and American Liberty hops. The result is an incredibly crispy beer that jumps out of the can with subtle spicy and herbal impressions. The first sip yields impressions of toasted crackers plus light flowery and spicy hop notes. Then your palate succumbs to a tight groove of bracing bitterness, which gets you ready to do it all over again with another sip.
Pygmalion Pilsner will be released at our taproom in Savoy this Friday and will be available on draft and in 4 packs of 16oz cans to go.
