Check out this new video of WILL’s Book Mentor Program

If you’re not familiar with WILL’s Book Mentor Program, you probably should be. The program, which has been around since 2004, provides thousands of books to youth in Champaign-Urbana via Head Start programs.

Check out their new video about the program, and then read a description below:

Tanta Powe’s son, Isaiah, loves to explore his world with books at home and in the classroom. He attends Head Start where each month a pair of Book Mentor volunteers read books and engage him and his classmates with activities. Isaiah gets to take the monthly book selection home where his mother re-reads the story and continues to engage him in activities.

This program, known as the Book Mentor Project, is directed by Illinois Public Media with generous support from PNC’s Grow Up Great grant. In 2016, the Book Mentor Project gave out 5,600 books across 43 Head Start classrooms throughout our local area thanks to 40 Book Mentor volunteers. You can see more about the project here:
