University of Illinois School of Art + Design grad Yvette Mayorga (Painting, 2015) has her artwork featured on a digital billboard in NYC’s Times Square.
How cool is that?
Mayorga is now a Chicago-based artist whose work “interrogates the broad effects of militarization within and beyond the US/Mexico border and intervenes in the colonial legacies of art history.”
American Urn 4 (after Rocco Porcalain Urn 19th c.) is on a Jumbotron in Times Square as part of El Museo del Barrio’s exhibition, Estamos Bien: La Trienal 20/21. If you’re in New York this summer, check out the exhibition (on view through September) and the Jumbotron.
