The Champaign Park District is a proud recipient of the 2013 Arts in the Park Award selected by Arts Alliance Illinois and given by the Illinois Association of Park Districts. The award is part of a statewide competition aimed to recognize agencies that support the arts and partner with artists and arts organizations to enhance the quality of life in their communities.
Having a variety of arts outlets in Champaign has been an important piece of the puzzle for the Champaign Park District. Through arts programs and events at the Springer Cultural Center, youth theatre and dance programs, performances at the Virginia Theatre, and sculptures in parks, the District has provided many area residents the chance to experience the arts in ways that would have been otherwise unavailable.
