Running is hard, there’s no way around that fact. Luckily, the Champaign Park District has found a way to make running fun, with a seasonal tilt. This Saturday, they will be hosting a Zombie Run, a run of two and a half miles and featuring all sorts of spooky obstacles.
For more information, including specifics and how to get involved with the event, check out the press release below.
From CPD:
Zombie Run is a reanimated fitness event happening Saturday, October 15. Register by October 6 for a sweet zombie race tee!
Runners will brave a 2.5 mile course around Kaufman Lake, in the dark, while dodging zombies, completing obstacles, and checking in at safe points! Race participants must sign up for a wave start time and participants will be sent off in waves of 20-50 participants at a time. Race waves start at 6:30 and go in half hour increments with 8:30 being the last wave.
Rather chase than run? Join the Zombie Run Crew and spend the evening in character as a zombie or Special Operator at one of Champaign’s most terrifying fall fitness events. Zombies should come in their own costumes and can have their make-up professionally done or they can do their own. Zombies will engage with participants by trying to remove flags from a belt around the runner’s waist. We’ve put strict safety measures in place, but it is possible that zombies may come into accidental physical contact with racers. If you would like to avoid that possibility, you can sign up to be a member of our special ops team. Special ops team members will help the set-up and take-down, along with monitoring the course and helping direct racers and zombies to the right locations. We will host a crew member training session prior to the race. All training session information will be sent to the email address you use at registration. Crew can purchase a race shirt for just $5.
All info on registration to be a runner, zombie, or special ops member can be found on our Facebook Event Page.
