On Sunday, January 12, 2014, the officers of the recently-formed Champaign County Young Democrats made endorsements in three county board races and one Congressional primary. In a three-way race for the U.S. IL 13th Congressional District Democratic primary, the Young Democrats endorsed Judge Ann Callis.
“I am really excited about Ann’s candidacy,” said CCYD president Scott Redenbaugh after the vote. “She will bring measured thought and a fresh perspective to the U.S. Congress.
Among the contested primary races for county board districts 7, 9 and 11, endorsements were made in district 7 for C. Pius Weibel, Shana Harrison in district 8, and Lorraine Cowart for district 11.
