October 17-19 is Champaign County Grows Green weekend, and this time around the City of Urbana, Urbana Park District, and Midwest Grows Green will be addressing the topic of compost topdressing. The city and park district have committed to using this practice at the City Building and Canaday Park Ball Field, and you will have the opportunity to learn all about how to use it in your own yard.
Here are the events, open to all:
Thursday, October 17th
12-1 p.m.
Compost Topdressing Lunch & Learn: Experience the steps and benefits of using compost to fertilize your lawn. During this CCNet brownbag, there will demos of compost topdressing on the organic south lawn of the Urbana City Building.
5:30-7:30 p.m.
Natural Lawn Care Green Drinks: Network and learn how to implement NLC and compost topdressing at a large scale with representatives of MGG, the Landscape Recycling Center in Urbana, the Urbana Park District and more at Broadway Food Hall in Urbana.
Saturday, October 19th
Urbana’s Market at the Square: Visit MGG’s Ryan Anderson, ask questions about natural lawn care and take the pledge at Urbana’s Farmer’s Market.
