Our wonderful friends at chambanamoms.com have started this local installment of this natioanl group, $5 Fridays, to help make a difference in our community with area schools. You can check out what the group is about below:
$5 Fridays was created as a small way to come together and make a difference in the greater Champaign-Urbana area. Thank you for joining – we’re stronger together!Each Friday we pick a LOCAL teacher’s submission on DonorsChoose.org for an educational project, and try to fund it with as many donations of $5 as possible. Often these teachers’ requests are about to expire and have received little to no money – we try to turn that around. Please share the group & help spread the word!We are interested in supporting schools throughout our readership area, from Monticello to Rantoul to Tuscola to Homer, and of course Champaign, Urbana, Mahomet, etc. We can only pick from active DonorsChoose projects, however!Set up a reminder for $5 Fridays on your phone to check this group every Friday morning. The point here is quantity of donors, not amount individuals donate. Joining this Group is you making a commitment to donate the price of a fancy coffee to one local classroom per week.
